Ok, not really vista related. Hoping for some help any way. I have my son's Dell inspirion 1501 Lap top. It had Win XP when he bought it 3 years ago new. He upgraded to windows 7 did not like it and switched it back to xp. I however changed it back to win 7 ultimate. I love it, no problems until I was trying to install an adobe photoshop program containing multiple programs within. I got a message that there was not enough room on my hard drive. I went and checked the memory. The indicator was red and full, suggested I do a disk clean up. I compressed the files and said yes when it asked if I wanted to create a partition, read that you can run xp and 7 if you have a partition. Now when I try to boot it says MFYZX is compressed. Press Ctrl/Alt/Del to restart. Then the same thing happens. I can only get into the set up menu. Apparently the pc is not detecting any of my drives, I've tried the dvd/cd drive with win7 disk and also using a usb flash drive, nothing changes. I Pray you can help me. Thanks usmcmom

Oh, after I compressed the files, I installed my photo program and everything worked fine. It was the next day when I turned the computer back on that this came up. The photo program states win 7 compatible. Hope this helps Thanks

Ok, so I bought a flash drive, put win 7 iso file on it and tried to boot that way. ( I hadn't been changing anything in the boot order, lol, just thought I was, sis helped me out.) I changed it to boot from usb flash drive & now it shows the dell screen then says not detecting battery, press any key. I press the any key and get a black screen with the cursor flashing in the upper left corner. Any ideas? Thanks Usmcmom
