I have a Dell Inspiron e1705 laptop. The computer is about 3 years old and my son has been using it at college. This week the system refused to boot and the Blue Screen appearsed and the system stopped. I ran Diags on the computer and found an error on disk short test(DST). I replaced the drive with a Tihachi 200 GB 7200 rpm drive and started the re install using the discks provided by Dell. The install required a boot from the CD-ROM drive and started the way it was suppose to do. The install proceeded through the load of files, extracting files, etc and finnaly got to the point where the system needed to restart. System started booting up and the screen went to : Please wait while windows boots for the first time. A series of dots followed and the HDD light flashed for several moments and then the system just stopped. I get no response from mouse or keybroad, the system is just dead. Please help if you can.

It is best to format first before reinstalling any of the disks from Dell. Chavanah

Having the same problem installation stops- freezes on completing. I installed active@bootdisk and used Live a littledisk then partitioned the drive, formatted partitions etc... Then, streamed all the drivers for my laptop to new install cd, stuck it in the drive and got a message. " no operating system found" Loaded up active@bootdisk again and installed from there. Everything loading up nicely till it gets about 2 thirds way through completion... Then... Nothing.. It just sits there.
